In accordance with the standard, VDS Rail has developed the Train Backbone Routers and the Train Ethernet Repeaters in order to ensure interoperability between consists. VDS’s Train Backbone Routers perform both routing and switching tasks.
Specific hardware by-pass and active/passive technology ensure proper redundancy between the backbone and the consist network, thus securing continuous operability.
Train Topology Discovery Protocol (TTDP) defined by the IEC standard is used to achieve Train Inauguration procedures.
VDS Rail's Fast Ethernet Train Backbone Node (TBN) is used when two or more trains need to be connected together.
The Integrated Ethernet Train Backbone Node (IETBN) is a perfect combination of an IEC standard Train Backbone Node implementation with a multi-port Ethernet Consist Switch.
VDS Rail's Gigabit Ethernet TRain Backbone Node is used when two or more trains need to be connected. Gigabit Ethernet TBN has 5 GbE ports (4 switched, 1 routed) when higher bandwidth is required.
